About Us

Anchored in Ballard

Just a few steps from the water, Line & Anchor has long been a homeport for locals, fishermen, and free spirits alike. Born out of Ballard’s maritime roots, we’re more than a neighborhood bar—we’re a place where the sea breeze still lingers, and every corner feels like a familiar dockside memory.

With worn-out ropes draped above weathered wood beams, and the low hum of conversation blending with the clink of pint glasses, our space tells the story of old salt and new spirit. It’s a place where stories are swapped like trade winds, and where regulars and first-timers are all welcomed with the same warmth and a cold drink.

Where Good Times Set Sail

Whether you’re here to catch the game, gather with your crew, or ride out the week over a plate of beer-battered fish and a stiff pour, Line & Anchor delivers that no-frills, good-vibes-only kind of comfort.

From live tunes and game-day cheers to the slow, steady rhythm of everyday nights, we’re proud to be the kind of place that doesn’t just serve food and drinks—but serves as a backdrop to memories made.

So whether you’re docked in Ballard or just drifting through, swing by. The ropes are frayed, the beer is cold, and the welcome is always warm.

Here’s to good company and high tides—cheers.

In Memory of Ian Russell – The Captain

At Lock & Keel, we raise our glasses to many things—but always, and especially, to Ian Russell, lovingly known as The Captain.

Ian wasn’t just the heart behind the bar—he was the soul of this place. His passion for good company, cold drinks, and Ballard’s salty spirit built Lock & Keel into the local landmark it is today. With every laugh shared, every toast made, and every story told, his presence still sails through these walls.

Though he’s no longer at the helm, his legacy lives on—in the warmth of our welcome, the strength of our community, and the everyday joy of gathering with friends.

Here’s to Ian. The Captain. The original anchor of Lock & Keel.
Gone from sight, never from our hearts.
